Galactus is a cosmic entity from Marvel Comics, first appearing in Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966). He is often depicted as a being of immense power and hunger, sustained by consuming the life force of planets.
Originally known as Galan of Taa, he was transformed into Galactus during the Big Crunch event following the destruction of the previous universe. He emerged from a cosmic egg after billions of years.
Driven by an insatiable hunger, Galactus requires vast amounts of energy to survive, leading him to consume planets, often wiping out entire civilizations. Despite being considered a villain due to his destructive actions, Galactus sees himself as a necessary part of the cosmic order, preventing an even greater threat by maintaining the balance of energy in the universe.
